HP ElitePad 900 Announced, Windows 8 Business Tablet Coming January

Windows 8 has the technology world fairly excited. It has been publicly available for a while now for consumers and business folk to try out and get used to, however until it is officially launched on October 26th, dedicated hardware for Microsoft’s latest desktop experience won’t be available. It is good to know however that as well as having the HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook and 4 new all-in-one desktop computers ready for launch the American based company have a fully fledged Windows 8 business tablet in the pipeline too, something which is pretty exciting considering this is the first tablet from HP since the Touchpad.
The ElitePad 900 is a 10-inch Windows 8 slate meant for business users, with features like pen input, drive encryption and optional 3G / 4G for fast on the go data connectivity. The 10-inch display on the machine isn’t 1080p full HD, something which surprised me a lot upon browsing the device: instead, the display is a 1,280 x 800 panel with IPS technology, which should ensure sharp icons and vivid colours along with great viewing angles. Inside the machine you will find an Atom-based Intel Clover Trail processor running alongside up to 2GB of RAM. Battery life is quoted as 10 hours by HP for the ElitePad 900, and with that Atom processor inside, we can believe it. Storage wise you have two options to choose from upon cinfiguration; a 32GB SSD or 64GGB SSD.
The machine also has ports for microSD cards and an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1080p shooter up front for video chats.
Overall the ElitePad 900 is one great looking machine, with a high quality aluminium back plate whilst the display is covered by gorilla glass. One of the main selling points of the machine is the accessories designed for it; there are keyboards and SmartJackets (which are cases with include additional ports) as well as an array of other goodies to check out.
