HTC Flyer Goes On Sale Across The UK

Whoooo the HTC Flyer has finally hit Europe and the UK today and has arrived right on cue to take the news surrounding it’s update coming soon from the spotlight. Available at £600 / €649 for the 3G-equipped 32GB variant or £480 / €499 for the one with only WiFi and 16GB on board the HTC Flyer is priced quite accurately to take on Motorola’s Xoom tablet. Out of the box the Flyer runs the new version of HTC’s Sense UI on top of Gingerbread, making it scroll along smoothly without let or hindrance.
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy tab which ran an older version of Android and tapped in to a market where small rules the roost, the HTC Flyer is more a personal organizer and will appeal vastly to households and businesses alike.

A nice tablets. I will get a HTC Flyer now
Great looking tablet, could it rival the giant known as Apple Ipad. Thanks for the post. Gabz
No problem Gabriella!
I can’t see either the Flyer or Puccini having any effect on the iPad at all. Now I am a devout follower of HTC having had HTC smartphones for years from the XDA to the Desire HD now. So, when the Flyer specs came out I was eagerly awaiting something special. Alas, it’s not to be and HTC have, in my opinion missed a trick. Why? Here are my views:
1. Has a single core processor, why not have used a dual core cpu2.
2. Ability to make notations is brill – though why more tablets don’t do this is strange to me when tablets first came out a number of years ago, this was one of their key advantages. Anyhow, HTC bring it out, as an option and at a cost of about £80 – too expensive.
3. Price point is on a par with the iPad and more if you buy the stylus too.
4. Looks aren’t anything special. This probably upsets people when there are so many proponents but in my mind it’s not worth it and you’d be better going for an iPad or one of the many other Android tablets available.
Thanks for your views Paul. I do have to agree with you that the Flyer isn’t going to make any difference to the iPad, although this is just one product.
