IDC: 12 Million e-readers & 18 Million Tablets shipped 2010
For those of you who are interested in both Tablet PC’s and e-readers, you’ll be very interested to know the sales figures for both consumer devices in 2010 then, won’t you?
IDC was conducting research and collecting sales throughout 2010, and their research has gathered this; during 2010 18 million Tablet PC’s were shipped worldwide, with 15 Million of those being iPads, and 12 Million e-readers were also shipped. It is unclear as to how many of those e-readers were Amazon’s Kindle, however we’d bet Amazon shipped well over 6 million Kindles. Some sources claim Amazon’s Kindle currently has a 48 percent share in the e-reader market.
