iPhone 4 Incase Snap Case Review

First Impressions

The iPhone 4 Incase Snap looks rather nice out of the box, and the review model recieved was called ‘smoke’ for its translucent looks. When taking it out however the first thing that will hit you is the thinness of the case, and with this being Incase’s take on the ultra thin shell case, if you are buying this for drop protection you should look elsewhere. The case has a blue tone to it, in fact, i’d go as far to say that it is dark blue, and in fact not grey like pictured across the internet.

Putting it on

As this is a snap case all that is required of you to put this case on is applying the button side of the iPhone 4 directly in to the case and pushing the other side down. However, this is where a huge design flaw cropped up (although this could just be our case). The case does not fit. By this, I mean it is far too tight and perhaps a mm too short in width. Despite my best efforts to actually ‘push’ the other side of the iPhone 4 in, it just wouldn’t fit properly.

I liked

The over all aesthetic looks of this case are nice. Being translucent, the case also shows off the apple logo somewhat and provides excellent access to all ports and buttons. Grip is also good, and the case has a sort of ‘matte’ effect to it. On the desk it looks good too, apart front it not being entirely flush with the phone itself (doesn’t fit).

I disliked

This case will offer no impact resistance at all. Whats more, the case also could start to fray (its a known issue with matte effect cases) over time.  I really can not let go of the fact that this case does not fit properly and as a case available on the free case program, it is completely unacceptable that Apple ships these (even free).

Issues

As noted above the case is too small for the iPhone 4, thus depleteing any reason for purchasing one. Also, the cased is a touch expensive.

Verdict

We would steer away from this case if you can and go with the official Apple Bumper or Griffin Reveal [review]. The Incase Snap Case is essentially flimsy and traps dirt round the back of it, this with addition of the case wobbling, makes the dirt crush into the case and leave tarnishes or ‘blemishes’ imprinted in to the polished side of the case (although this is unnoticable when the iPhone 4is in the case). If you do buy this case, then please put on a back protector to stop the dirt tarnishing your glass back.
