Leeds University researchers create polymer gel batteries, flexible to fit any device

Did you know that i’m from Leeds? Well you do now, so it makes me sort of proud to bring this latest news to you that some Leeds University researchers have created a new polymer gel that could lead to batteries that are safer and cheaper to consumers than those currently in store. The most intriguing part of this news however is that the university researchers claim that the gel can be “shaped and bent to fit the geometries of virtually any device”, meaning we could in the near future have a battery where one size really does fit all. Moving on to commericalizing this new technology (or gel), Leeds University has already licensed it to Polystor Energy Corporation who are trialing it, on the basis to commercialise it in the near future. The technologies chief creator, Professor Ian Ward FRS, a Research Professor of Physics at the University of Leeds, believes that this new polymer gel will one day replace the liquid electrolytes currently found in conventional batteries.
Researchers, you have my backing.
