Netbooks Are Alive and Kicking, ASUS Certainly Thinks So With New “Flare” Series
Technology news. Ah Netbooks, the pinnacle of the ultra-portable, full fledged Windows experience. While the Tablet craze may have sucked some of the pizzazz (and Market share) from these diminutive work horses, aside from Dell dropping future production of them, at least one company, ASUS, is still actively in the game — and not afraid to show it! At CES Vegas in January 2012 ASUS will be openly showing off the latest generation of their 10 and 12 inch Netbooks running on the newest, and much delayed, Intel Atom Ceder Trail family of CPU’s (the N2600 and N2800) alongside their like-sized AMD Fusion APU based counterparts. This newest line of Eee PC’s will continue to carry on the proud ASUS tradition of offering up a chicklet keyboard alongside striking aesthetics borrowed from ASUS’s very own Ultrabook line of PC’s .
One thing ASUS succeeds at doing continually (at least with their Netbooks) is remaining incongruous to the austere appearances of the products their competitors produce. The new Netbook line adds “Flare” to the naming scheme. Instead of the slightly simpler ”ASUS Eee PC Netbook” moniker, it is now the overly convoluted ” ASUS Eee PC Flare Netbook”. The bright metallic blue, red and purple, product color references in the picture released sure do scream “flare” with enough flamboyance to make a peacock blush. Harsh words indead. Your move, peacock.
