No Xbox handheld on the horizon, Microsoft COO explains
Any thoughts people around the world have had surrounding a potential Xbox handheld gaming console to compete with the soon to be PS Vita and already on the market 3DS may be stopped now, or at least it would appear, after Microsoft COO Dennis Durkin has been cited as saying the market is a “a very, very red ocean.”
Previous to the very colourful red orientated words above, Durkin explained that due to the overly crowded mobile market currently a successful launch for a new product from Microsoft which is dedicated would be very difficult indeed. In our opinion, what this means is that although a dedicated handheld gaming console is off the cards, a potential Windows Phone 7 handheld with heavy Xbox Live integration could be a reality eventually, sort of like the Xperia Play from Sony (although perhaps a little bit more successful).
