Nokia CEO: “Microsoft takeover rumours baseless”
Following on from our previous coverage regarding Nokia deciding to opt for Windows Phone 7 as the operating system of choice for their smartphones, and recent rumours of a Microsoft Nokia buyout, Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop has hit back and denied claims that Nokia is to sell up soon, going even further and calling all rumours baseless.
Speaking at the D9 conference hosted by all things digital, Stephen Elop went on to say:
“There’s absolutely no discussion. The rumours are baseless. It is as clear as that. My principal focus and the focus of the team is to take care of the short term but make sure that the execution is flawless”
So that’ll be it then, and you heard it from the man himself; Nokia will not be selling up to Microsoft, although we think it is only a matter of time before Microsoft makes it’s own hardware for their operating system.
