NSA Snubs Linux and Mac, Cites Windows is Better

In an almighty weird bit of news the NSA’s best practices guide got released to the public a while ago, and in it there was a little bit of a surprise, with the National Security Agency recommending Windows over Linux platforms despite Windows being plagued by malware, as the Linux Blog has covered many times.
In the best practice guide released by the NSA, it said “Both Windows 7 and Vista provide substantial security enhancements over earlier Windows workstation operating systems such as XP. Many of these security features are enabled by default and help prevent many common attack vectors”.
In the guide the NSA barely mentions Linux and completely snubs Apple’s Mac OS X operating systems security features.
Also in the report were a number of tips for people to keep their data and computer secure, including keeping automatic updates on and regularly updating their computer. These are fairly basic and obvious tips for sure, however every little hopes, we suppose.
