Paypal making its way over to Xbox 360, moves beyond browser payments

Paypal

Paypal, best known for their heavy integration within eBay and the transaction maker of choice amongst blogger’s, is to very soon be integrated in to Xbox systems marking the first time the company has moved away from the browser experience. This news means that Xbox users will be able to purchase digital content through their consoles using a Paypal account, and on this Senior director of emerging opportunities at PayPal Carey Kolaja in an interview with Bloomberg said “It’s symbolic of us moving beyond just the browser as a payment experience”.

It will be interesting to see where Paypal moves its payment system over to next. Ideally, Playstation 3 users will also get this, however it is not fully known whether this deal holds exclusivity or whether Paypal will be trialing this to assess the demand for their services. Personally, I think that this is a good move by Paypal and I know a few people who will certainly be using their services on their Xbox 360 gaming consoles in the near future.
