Playstation Move motion controller showcased

[ 2 ] Posted by on March 11, 2010

Sony has shown off its brand spanking new motion controller which is now officially known as the PlayStation Move – as the company ‘attempts’ to blow the Nintendo Wii out of the console water.

Unveiled at a PlayStation presentation held at the official Games Developer Conference in San Francisco, Sony finally put a name to its latest gaming hardware, and also disapointed those who were certain it would be called the Sony Arc. Sony then proceeded in showing the GDC audience just how the Sony Move will integrate with PS3 gaming.

Claiming to be the ‘most precise’ ultra-sensory device of its kind, the PlayStation Move requires the use of a wand-like device a little more rounded than the Wiimote, with Sony’s Eye camera used as the sensor to track your movements. The only question on everybody’s lips however is ‘is this as intuitive as the Wii mote then?’

And honestly? We have no idea yet. But stay tuned and I will do my utmost to unravel the mystery. In the meantime, check out this taster on what the Move is like. It looks absoutely awesome;

    I don’t think that its really going to take off, due it being an afterthought and an addon rather than packed in with every playstations developers won’t be overly keen to pour the resources into making the AAA games that the device requires in order to sell more of them, catch 22 situation.
