kittenDoes your dog Tweet? Is your cat addicted to Facebook? Well new research suggests that one in ten pets has a social profile on Facebook, Twitter or Youtube with 52 per cent of UK pet owners having shared photos of their pets on the internet. The rise in popularity of pets online has led on to highly popular pet centric websites being launched such as My Cat Space, which specializes in the social networking of, you guessed it, cats. All of this comes from insurance firm PetPlan, whos estimates suggest that around 3 million pets have a profile on Facebook alone.

Does you cat or dog have a social networking account? Do they woof and meow their way through technology? Be sure to let us know.

As far as i’m aware I have 5 friends who tweet on behalf of their pets, with the majority being dogs. I find the whole thing slightly bizarre if i’m honest, because there is a fine line between cute and daft. The worst culprits are businesses who use some form of animal mascot. Ugh.
