RIM slashes Playbook price, wants you to want one

Do you see that image above? Well that may very well be a product which may soon be following the same fate as the HP TouchPad. Now isn’t because the Blackberry Playbook is a bad tablet, it’s just that both Apple’s and other tablet manufacturers marketing is more prominent. This, I feel, is the underlying reason as to why RIM’s playbook tablet hasn’t sold as well as it really should have, and also the reason as to why RIM has just slashed the price of said product. Yes it’s completely true, and in not-quite-matching HP TouchPad form, Staples, Best Buy, and Office Depot have all knocked out around $100 from the price of the PlayBook tablet, with RIM possibly hoping consumers will rush to grab one.

These new tactics from RIM are through retailers only, and as such you’ll be wanting to shop around for the best prices online but with that being said, if you head on over to Best Buy you’ll find the tablet with $100 slashed from its RRP and if you purchase soon, a $100 best buy gift card thrown in too. On these new promotional tactics, and in an e-mail to PC Mag RIM said that; “As mentioned on the Q2 earnings call on Sept. 15th, we have a number of promotional plans in place for the fall with our retail partners that are intended to drive sell-through and increase adoption of the BlackBerry PlayBook.”

All of these new promotional tactics are expected to continue up until Christmas so if you or a loved one would like a Playbook, there is no better time than now.
