RIM’s Q1 earnings announced, shipped over 500,000 PlayBooks

RIM have publicised their Q1 earnings, and have announced a $4.9 billion revenue and $695 million in profit. They’ve also announced that they’ve ‘shipped’ half a million (500,000) PlayBooks during the quarter, while mobile phone shipments totaled 13.2 million devices. These earnings announced are on the lower end of forecast, and they say the halt in the first quarter will continue into Q2, resulting in a number of layoffs.
