Skype Hackers Could Gain Control Of Your Mac
For everybody out there who owns a Mac and uses Skype I have some news for you, and that is that your Mac could be overtaken by hackers any minute now. Pretty scary huh?
According to Australian security firm Pure Hacking this is exactly what could happen, as a recently discovered zero-day bug in the Mac version of Skype would allow a hacker to gain control of your Mac through an instant message. Gordon Maddern of Pure Hacking blogged on the matter, citing that:
“The long and the short of it is that an attacker needs only to send a victim a message and they can gain remote control of the victims Mac. It is extremely wormable and dangerous,”
According to IT Portal Maddern informed Skype of this issue around one month ago to which he recieved a reply stating they were aware of the issue. After a month, with no patch in sight, Maddern decided to go public with the matter.
