Skype to drop Windows Mobile and ‘Lite’ app for Android

Skype has announced it is to pull Skype for Windows Mobile phones and Skype Lite for Java handsets, which includes Android powered handsets. On the official Skype blog, a post stated that “Neither of these apps offered a great Skype experience,”.
The reasoning behind this latest development is down to Skype Lite’s limited country list, which was classed as a major hindrance in the form of availability. Calls also, as quoted by Skype’s own critique of their product, dipped into the user’s bank of minutes. For its Windows Mobile reasoning, Skype cited that they were finding it difficult to maintain the app’s behavior from one device to the next – leading to increased consumption of resources.
Meanwhile, Skype continues to grow in popularity as a decent IM utility. Skype has cited that, with Symbian now being open source and Java now overlaping some Nokia mobiles, that they hope users of Symbian will start using Skype for Symbian more.

I do not see the point in Skype anyway. Never used it and never will.
