Sony could post $3 billion loss, cites $268.9 million earthquake loss

Terrible things happen that we can do nothing about and the Japan earthquake was just one of those, and in the corporate world no other business has been affected as much as Sony. With Sony’s net loss from the hacking they recieved set to cost around $170 million, the earthquake has staggeringly resulted in Sony making a loss of $268.9 million. In an interview with PC Mag, Sony chief financial officer Masaru Kato said that ”Our supply chain was significantly damaged by the earthquake and tsunami,”.
So why $3 billion? Well if the earthquake damage isn’t resolved this year (unlikely) then Sony will continue to have supply chain issues and continue to leak money through every function they undertake. Let’s just hope this money can be made back sometime in the near future.
