Sony PSP Go

The PSP Go didn't take off like Sony expected

After Sony’s failed attempt of a product upgrade to stem the life of the PSP, which resulted in the PSP Go, it hasn’t taken long for one developer to spill the beans and say that there is in fact a PSP2 in the pipeline. Speaking in an interview at PAX 2010, Shaun Himmerick, Executive Producer on the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot, not only revealed that the device existed, but also that his team had one.

In the interview, Shaun Himmerick said that;

“We have a PSP2 in the house, and we’re looking at the engine, like what can it support. Always a big thing for us is the performance. We’re running at 60 fps, what can we do and do we have to build all the art assets over. We’re definitely looking at them.”

Not wanting to let loose any technicial specifications of the PSP2, Himmerick did state that the PSP2 looks like a ‘pretty powerful machine’. Come on, Himmerick, throw us a bone, and some specs.

Playstation Magazine however expects to see a number of new features such as that long-mooted touchscreen, in addition to two cameras, possible 3G-connectivity (as opposed to PSPGo’s Wi-Fi only), and a blistering four core Cell CPU (the PS3 uses eight).

    Don’t see the need for any handhelds anymore – devices are becoming all in one’s. I’d rather have my iPhone 4 than any device that adds weight to my bag.
