Sony putting an end to Walkman MiniDisc players

I must admit I haven’t seen a Walkman MiniDisc player up for sale in any modern up to date electronics store in a long long time, however Sony has still been packing them up and shipping them in other countries worldwide much to the non interest of UK consumers. So, then, after 19 years after their initial release Sony is finally bidding farewell to their MiniDisc player line in September, although they won’t be completely off shelves until December due to them being popular as hard drive storage devices.
Traditionally, the Walkman MiniDisc player was introduced by Sony to take over from their highly popular cassette players, and worldwide Sony shipped a whole 22 million units. Back in Ocotober 2010, Sony announced they were to stop selling their cassette players.
