What happens when you stuff a load of electrical components within a plastic and glass housed rectangular box? Well unless it has sufficient vents to cool them, those electrical components will melt their way in to an early and untimely death. The latest manufacturer who fits in to the scenario above is Sony, who is recalling Bravia branded TV’s manufactured between 2007 and 2008, due to melting internal components which have been reported to start smoking, causing concerns over fire safety.

As of today only 11 incidents have been reported from consumers to Sony however we reckon it could be more than this in the real world, and Sony would like to recall 1.6 million faulty TV’s which were shipped out to US, European and other markets across the globe. If you have a Bravia TV and are unsure whether your model is one which Sony is worried about, Sony is said to be prepping an advisory note to customers through e-mail and its website.
