Train Times: Why data back up is important

[ 0 ] Posted by on September 7, 2010

This post was genuinely sparked from the train this morning, when a man whipped out his laptop to check some final meeting notes and realised to his horror that the hard drive was not spinning, and the Windows load up looped and looped.

The importance of an external hard drive and data back up is something that a lot of people do not understand. If you work on a computer, or are for example a business person with one heck of a lot of client details and spreadsheets, then you are quite literally playing with fire if you have not sorted a reliable data back up plan out.

Modern computers prompt you to do this -either digitally or physically- and many PC’s nowadays come with an online storage plan directly from the manufacturer, mine for example has a data storage plan from Acer.

The problem with an online storage plan though is that -through personal preference- I prefer to actually have genuine control over my files and exactly how those files are organised in a portable device. Products like the western digital 1tb external hard drive (best price site) are the sort of products I go after, as they offer so much storage you could quite literally put a public library in them.

So please guys back up your computer or laptop all of the time, even just using a USB stick will do for smaller files such as documents and USB sticks are the ultimate portable storage companion. Check out products such as the wd 1tb external hard drive (best price site) for mass storage solutions.
