Transparent OLED displays hitting you soon, TDK starts production
Did you guys ever check out our Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness review around a year and a bit ago? Well that little device was the makings of a technology which we thought would make it’s way in to more and more consumer devices over the next 5 years in the form of transparent OLED displays, and we were right. TDK has now kicked off mass production of its transparent OLED displays, and the 2.4-inch, QVGA (240 x 320) UEL476 display has a transmittance of 40 percent yet obscures light passing through the front so others won’t be able to read your text messages from behind.
On the official TDK website, TDK state; “We offer self-luminous organic light emitting displays which are energy-saving and highly luminant with a wide view angle and slim profile”, and I personally can’t wait to see these displays hit consumer ready devices.
