Waterstones to release their own e-reader, Spring 2012

Amazon is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world when it comes to e-reader sales, and on the recent news that Waterstones have announced to be prepping their own e-reader release, I bet Amazon aren’t flinching. The e-reader, confirmed by Waterstones’ Managing Director James Daunt, will hit stores in 2012 and is apparently “well down the planning line” with a spring 2012 release date expected by the company.
“We in Waterstone’s need to offer you a digital reader which is at least as good, and preferably substantially better, than that of our internet rival, and you will have a much better buying experience purchasing your books through us,” Daunt announced recently.
Amazon’s market share of the e-reader market including the iPad stands at 47% percent, and not including the iPad around 75%. We’ll be back with features and specifications of the Waterstones e-reader once announced.
