Wii U will not support DVD or Blu Ray
Oh joy of joys. Despite the Wii U being the latest next generation console which will be hitting stores soon the Wii U will apparently not be set up out of the box to play DVD or Blu Ray’s, meaning that if you want to watch native 1080p media in disc form you’ll be wanting a PS3, still.

The reason for that is that we feel that enough people already have devices that are capable of playing DVDs and Blu-ray, such that it didn’t warrant the cost involved to build that functionality into the Wii U console because of the patents related to those technologies.
