Zune hardware dead, says insider
Uh-oh, Zune fans. Looks like mother Microsoft is pulling the plug on their media player division after facing insurmountable competition from other companies (-cough- Apple) and will focus instead on increasing brand recogntion within the Xbox brand and the media service on WP7.
This coming from the predictably shadowy man known as a ”person familiar with the decision”, which means it could be completely unfounded but it does make a little bit of sense, we’ve heard that the stock they have left will be the last, so get that Zune HD order in sharpish, they’re running out quick.
