Zune pass coming to UK, Version 4.7 to be WP7′s official sync

It’s official! Microsoft is merging Zune Pass subscription services with the soon to be released -and much anticipated- Windows Phone 7. And for those of you who are in the dark as to what Zune Pass is, it is basically Microsoft’s ‘iTunes’, a subscription music service that allows users (or soon to be WP7 owners) to temporarily download an unlimited number of songs for the length of the Zune Pass subscription, and in the process keep 10 of them every single month. Due to Microsoft’s complicated processes however, not all features of Zune pass will reach UK shores – Zune Pass will however be Windows Phone 7′s official sync.
So then, it appears that Microsoft is combining Xbox live, Zune Pass and WP7 into handsets in the very near future – makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside with excitment, doesn’t it?
Here are some of the things UK consumers will see with Zune Pass:
- The Zune Pass subscription service will hit the UK, France, Italy and Spain, offering unlimited streaming for £8.99 / €9.99 per month but no ability to keep 10 tracks a month as with the $14.99 US service.
- Music purchases will arrive in the UK, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany, and the format will be unencumbered MP3.
- Video purchases will come to the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with playback support across the PC, Xbox Live, and Windows Phone 7.
- Video rentals will hit the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and can be synced to the PC, Xbox Live, and Windows Phone 7.
